Product Description

  • The grapes for this Meritage blend are sourced from the Crazy Creek Estate in Alexander Valley. Crazy Creek is known for low vigor, with an Eastern exposure and loamy soils. This amazing value is a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. A zesty red, with bright cherry and spice aromas and lively red currant, tomato leaf and toasty mocha flavors that finish with firm but ripe tannins.
  • Our VineyardsOur goal is to highlight the special characters of this noble varietal while showcasing the distinct benefits and attributes associated with these two magnificent vineyard sites. Yoeman Vineyard, Alexander Valley Goldschmidt Yoeman Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a remarkable site situated on a northeastern slope in the renowned Alexander Valley. The vineyard is situated on a terraced knoll, just east of the town of Geyserville and is comprised primarily of a gravelly loam soil. The slope direction provides excellent exposure of the grape clusters and allows for long “hang time.” This provides us with perfectly formed bunches of grapes that possess optimal ripeness and fully developed varietal character. The unique combination of exposure, soil conditions, drainage, and mature vines produces wines of rich, concentrated flavors that showcase the true character of the region, the vineyard, and the varietal. The Goldschmidt Vineyard Yoeman Cabernet is a full bodied wine with supple tannins, luxurious texture, and a lengthy finish. Goldschmidt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is hand crafted, utilizing the best possible resources available. The wine is exceptional and exhibits the richness and balance that are the hallmarks of world class wines. Game Ranch Vineyard, Napa Valley, Oakville The prestigious Game Ranch Vineyard is situated in the famed Oakville appellation in the heart of the Napa Valley. Located on an old river bottom on the eastern bench of the Silverado Trail, the vineyard is made up of very rocky, well draining soils. In this stressful, low moisture environment, the vines struggle to put everything they can into the development of the fruit. With perfect control over the watering of this vineyard site we are able to coax the vines to produce grapes of great concentration and exceptional quality. The Goldschmidt Vineyard Oakville Cabernet is a full bodied wine with gripping tannins that are balanced with great structure, power, and weight. Goldschmidt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is hand crafted, utilizing the best possible resources available. The wine is exceptional; with the richness and balance that are the hallmarks of world class wines.

Sonoma Like its neighbor Napa, Sonoma is a small area filled with independent wineries and characterized by microclimates that vary according to the topography. The coolest parts of Sonoma are the fog-filled south, where the grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Northwards up the valley the climate warms and provides a good base for Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. In general Sonoma wines are less dramatically flavorful than those of Napa. Cabernet Sauvignon is relatively soft, with blackcurrant fruit, minty and eucalyptus perfume, and some soft buttery oak. Zinfandel ranges from soft and gulpable to massive bramble and pepper styles. Chardonnay is rich and juicy, especially from the Russian River, and Sauvignon Blanc can be zingy and grassy. Most Sonoma wines have a freshness and a soft edge which makes them very suitable for drinking on their own, however they partner well with strongly flavored fish and meat dishes. The old-style Zinfandels are delicious with spicy cuisine.
United States Wineries exist in all fifty states, but the most predominant (and best) wine comes from Northern California, Oregon, and Washington State, with New York gaining a foothold in the industry. American wines make up about 75% of all wine sales in the US. The appellation system uses the term AVA (American Viticultural Area) to determine where wines were produced, but grape varieties can be planted anywhere in the country. American wineries generally use varietal labeling, and government regulations require that the variety on the label must make up at least 75% of the blend (in Oregon it’s 90%). The words reserve, special selection, private reserve, classic, and so on have no legal definition in the US. Some wineries use these terms to indicate their better wines; others use the words as a marketing tool to move lower quality wines off the shelf.
California California produces the majority of wine made in the United States. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir dominate the wine production in California, but many other varietials thrive in the California climate. Many fine wines are produced in California using Mediterranean grapes.
